As I indicated before, if the movie maintains its popularity abroad, odds are very high it could become the fifth movie to surpass the billion dollar mark, something that Transformers 2 is not going to achieve.

Speaking of Revenge of the Fallen, the final weekend numbers is third place with $13.7 million estimate was accurate bringing its conjugal total to $363.8 million and ranking it 13th in the all time top grossing movies chart (88th if adjust for inflation). Overseas sales came to $13.5 for an overseas total of $396.6 bringing its worldwide total to $760.4 million. At this rate the movie should pass the $800 million mark by the end of the week.

Posted in Uncategorized on July 14, 2009 by klirt

Hoow! It’s been a long time since I have opened this blog. I’ve been busy conducting our case study in supervision of our thesis adviser Mr. Casemiro. We have to generate a system that is functional to our respondents. In fact, until now we don’t have our company or a respondent because it’s too hard to look for it. But I believe that we can do it and make it to the top! HEHE….
But don’t worry guy’s…I will make sure that you will be rationalized on what this group will have for this 1st semester on our case study. So watch out for more details…!

CES 2009: Palm Pre

Design
To facilitate all this is a best-of-breed design. First, you’ve got a multitouch screen that’s absolutely sharp and brilliant in color with its palm prehalf-VGA (320×480) resolution. Not only can you use the screen to navigate, there’s a gesture area right below the display where you can use finger swipes and touches to launch menus, toolbars, applications, go back, or advance.
I’ve made it no secret that I’m a huge texter and need physical buttons, so I was more than delighted when I saw that the smartphone had a keyboard. The Pre’s keyboard is similar to that of the Palm Treo Pro; the buttons are a little on the smaller side, but there is a good amount of space between them to reduce any problems.

Again, looking at the design of the phone, I could tell time and thought was spent on the device. The hardware feels solid and not as plasticky as the Palm Centro. When you slide open the Pre, it has a slight curve that makes it comfortable to hold against your cheek when talking on the phone or even when typing out messages. Also, going back to the touch screen, it felt responsive and–hooray!–on Web pages, you can pinch the screen like the iPhone to easily zoom in and out of pages.

Multimedia
palmpre_03_540x655_270x327As far as multimedia, the Palm Pre offers a 3-megapixel camera. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a chance to snap any photos, but early reports say that the quality is pretty good. Disappointingly, the camera won’t have video recording capabilities at this time, but those could be added in the future. In terms of music, like the T-Mobile G1, Palm has partnered with the Amazon Music Store, so you will be able to purchase songs over the air from your Pre.

Robotics and Computers in Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , on February 24, 2009 by klirt

Minimally invasive spine surgery has recently been advanced with the use of endoscopes, improvements in camera equipment and advances in medical robotics. The advantages to the patient are less pain, smaller incisions, fewer complications and a more rapid return to normal activity when compared to conventional surgery. Surgeons are now able to remove a ruptured disc using a small endoscope, repair a painful disc using electro thermal energy and fuse a painful degenerated disc with the aid of a miniature camera and incisions no larger than 1/2 inch. Robotics and computers are now playing an expanding role in assisting surgeon in these minimally invasive procedures.

Examples of such procedures now being performed that were extremely difficult if not impossible before this technology are fallopian tube repair in women, microsurgery on the fetus, and minimally invasive coronary bypass surgery. The Zeus robot made by Computer Motion and a similar device, the Endowrist made by Intuitive Surgical are now in clinical trials for the above-mentioned procedures. Even with the robot to enhance the surgeon’s ability, a great deal of practice is required to master the technique.

Robots are also used to help in performing tasks, which are either boring or fatiguing for humans. This idea formed the basis to develop Aesop, a voice-activated robotic arm that holds the camera and endoscope assembly for the surgeon during an endoscopic procedure.

Computers are also being used in image guidance systems to give the surgeon real time images and allow him to navigate to the specific location on the spine. The surgeon can use digital information obtained before surgery such as MRI or CT scans or use real time flrouroscopic x-rays to develop a three dimensional image of the spine with the exact location of a probe placed on the spine.
